I knew my life would get vastly easier once I and most of the Lord of flies in disguise shirt and by the same token and people in my life became eligible for the vaccine, but in all the excitement, I didn’t stop to think through the mental health side effects of living through a global pandemic. I don’t know when I’ll be able to make it through allergy season—or even develop a small cold—without visions of masks and isolation and crowded hospitals, but right now, all I can do is load up on Claritin, get plenty of rest, and hope this state of post-COVID paranoia is one that will eventually abate.
